Aimed squarely at riders looking for a resort busting all-terrain board, the Hello is the perfect choice for anyone who wants one board that can handle whatever terrain you throw in its path. Built around a versatile directional twin shape, it delivers a well-balanced ride, no matter what or where you ride. Predictable when cruising around the resort yet fully at home when lapping the park. However, the Hello has an ace up its sleeve, which separates it from other boards in its category, transforming it into one of the best performing mid-price all-terrain boards available. By combining a mid-flex with Yes's advanced Underbite edge profile, the Hello delivers a level of control, response and stability on the edge that is nothing short of remarkable. By adding divots into the sidecut under both the toes and heels, Yes's designers have managed to disrupt energy flow along the edge and help focus that energy towards the contact points and into the centre of the sidecut. This shift in energy flow gives the board a dynamic turn entry and exit combined with a super stable feel through the centre of the turn, giving the Hello a level of response and control on a par with boards that are a lot stiffer and a lot more expensive.

Rider Style

The Hello is aimed at intermediate through to expert riders looking for a versatile all-terrain board that can take on the whole mountain.

Shape Overview

As the lines between freeride and freestyle continue to erase, Yes had to address the needs of those committed to riding twins but finding themselves in more pow. Nose and tail volume is hard to notice on hardpack unless you're nose/tail pressing, but in pow, it affects floatation, and you can feel it. This conundrum led them to the simple idea of the Directional Volume Twin. With Symmetrical flex, a centred stance, identical wide points of the board (therefore, NOT tapered), and identical shovel lengths but with a slightly lower volume tail. To take full advantage of this advanced performance shape, Yes utilise its advanced UnderBite edge profile. UnderBite edges re-distribute a rider's weight so that it enhances ease of turning and edge hold. Creating divots inwards under the binding area reduces and disrupts the edge's surface area that has contact with the snow while the board is turning. Underbite increases the edge pressure by distributing your weight/energy into the areas where it's needed - from the binding out and through the centre of the board where the carving arc is taking place. This segmentation of the sidecut into three principal zones focuses your body weight into areas that initiate, hold and release turns.

Profile

The Hello utilises Yes's all-terrain focussed 2-4-2 CamRock profile. This versatile camber profile combines low profile rocker zones at the tip and tail with a more pronounced camber through the middle of the board. This combination creates hook-free zones at the tip and tail while allowing the contact points to engage faster than the more freestyle orientated profiles, giving the board a more dynamic feel and helping the pronounced camber between the feet work in harmony with the UnderBite edges.

Construction

The Hello is the perfect example of that old saying, sometimes less is more. Reading through the spec list, you don't get any of the headline-grabbing pointless techs many brands flag up. But what you do get is a board manufactured using traditional snowboard construction. A high-quality poplar wood core wrapped with high-quality bi-ax glass fibre. These two materials are the building blocks for a great snowboard; everything else at this price point is just fluff. So, with the Hello, you get a board that gives the perfect balance of pop, control and playfulness. Everything that you could ever ask for with this kind of snowboard.

Base

The Hello's Sintered Spec is similar in hardness and chemical properties to true sintered bases; its on-snow performance is very close to true sintered. But, it is formed using the extrusion process. How? The raw material is actually pre-consumer recycled (meaning it never left the factory) sintered base material. So while the heating and extrusion process has softened it slightly, it's still much harder than true Extruded.
